BMW drivers to pay for fuel from inside their cars

September 13th, 2024

New technology from BMW will allow drivers to pay for petrol or diesel without leaving their cars. The in-car payment system, available on BMW’s Operating Systems 7, 8, 8.5, and 9, lets drivers find the nearest petrol station and settle fuel bills directly from the car’s screen.

Currently, the feature is only available in Germany at petrol stations like Aral, Esso, and others. Drivers simply add their credit card details via the My BMW app or in the car’s menu, then select the station and pump when they arrive. They receive a notification to start refuelling and can pay electronically.

BMW is also extending this feature to drivers of its hydrogen-powered vehicles, making it easier to refuel at H2 MOBILITY stations. Additionally, drivers can pay for parking in the same way, with everything handled directly from the car.
