Electric vehicle charging plaza planned for A1(M) in North Yorkshire

Plans have been submitted for a new electric vehicle (EV) charging plaza near the A1(M) at Leeming in North Yorkshire. The proposed facility, adjacent to Exelby Services, would include 20 rapid charging points under a solar panel canopy and a drive-thru coffee shop.
The planning application was submitted to North Yorkshire Council by Fastned UK Ltd, part of the Netherlands-based Fastned BV, which operates over 320 rapid charging stations across Europe and the UK.
The charging plaza aims to address both “range anxiety” and “charger anxiety” by providing convenient, high-speed charging for EV users traveling through the region.
