Low-carbon HVO fuel trialed in Railway Transport

A 12-week trial using Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) as a low-carbon alternative to diesel has begun in a Class 156 train. Running from 19 February at Corkerhill Depot, the initiative is a collaboration between Angel Trains and Crown Oil.
If successful, HVO could help reduce greenhouse gas emissions in railway transport, serving as a transition fuel until carbon-neutral options like green hydrogen become more viable.
