Starting in January, BMW will fill all new diesel cars it manufactures in Germany with HVO 100, a hydrotreated vegetable oil made from renewable materials like cooking oil and other waste products. This fuel, which excludes palm oil, produces up to 90% fewer greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional diesel.
The initiative is being rolled out across BMW’s manufacturing plants in Munich, Dingolfing, Regensburg, and Leipzig. The fuel is already available at many German gas stations and has been used in BMW’s logistics vehicles since early 2023.
