New digital fuel card aims to cut fuel fraud and speed up driver onboarding

Certas Energy has relaunched its digital fuel card with enhanced features designed to combat fuel fraud and streamline account setup for drivers.
The updated card now includes facial recognition for identity verification, cross-checking applicants’ photos with their driving licences. This allows for a faster, more secure sign-up process and removes the risks associated with physical cards being lost, stolen, or cloned.
Fuel fraud remains a significant issue for fleet operators, with cloning and theft costing businesses thousands of pounds per incident. The digital system allows fleet managers to manage unlimited drivers from a single portal and has reported no cases of fraud since its launch.
In addition to improved security, the switch to virtual cards has reduced paper waste and plastic use.
