Royal Mail is adding 2,100 Peugeot electric vans to its fleet, supporting its goal to reach net zero by 2040. This latest addition includes 1,100 E-Partners produced at the UK’s first EV-only factory at Ellesmere Port, marking the first Royal Mail EVs to feature King Charles III’s cypher. Another 1,000 Peugeot E-Expert vans will also join the fleet under the deal.
Most of the new electric vehicles are expected on the road in time for Royal Mail’s Christmas rush, helping the postal service deliver greener, more efficient services during the peak season. Royal Mail, which already operates the UK’s largest EV delivery fleet of around 5,000 vehicles, anticipates the Peugeot vans will cut emissions by 6,000 tonnes of CO2 per year when fully in use.
To support its expanding electric fleet, Royal Mail will charge the new vans at local delivery offices using 100% renewable electricity. Greg Sage, Royal Mail’s deputy director for corporate affairs, highlighted the importance of the partnership with Peugeot: “We’re proud that our latest electric vehicles have been produced at Peugeot’s Ellesmere Port plant, furthering our work to remain the UK’s greenest delivery company.”
The Peugeot E-Partner and E-Expert models offer advanced technology, an all-electric range of up to 213 miles, and ample payload capacity. This partnership continues Peugeot’s long-standing commitment to Royal Mail’s sustainability goals and the electric transition in the UK.
