Scotland plans to add 24,000 public EV charging points by 2030

December 18th, 2024

The Scottish Government has released a Draft Implementation Plan detailing how it aims to deliver around 24,000 additional public electric vehicle (EV) charge points by 2030.

The plan outlines 15 key actions to expand Scotland’s public charging network and support its goal of phasing out the need for new petrol and diesel cars and vans by the same year. Achieving this target will involve collaboration among businesses, energy operators, and government to boost charging infrastructure and ensure greater range confidence for EV users.

Transport Scotland is consulting on the draft plan, with a final version expected in 2025.
