More than 1,200 public electric vehicle (EV) chargers were added to the UK network in March, bringing the total to 76,507, according to new data from the Department for Transport (DfT). This marks a 28% year-on-year increase.
The figures show the UK is now adding one public charger every 30 minutes. The growth comes alongside continued investment, including £381 million through the Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) fund to expand on-street charging in areas without off-street parking.
Suffolk County Council recently received £5.3 million from the LEVI fund and plans to install 6,000 charge points in partnership with Believ.
Zapmap previously reported the UK had surpassed 75,000 chargers in March, a 32% increase from February 2024.
