A vehicle mileage log should include the following:

Date of trip

Record the specific date (and time if required) of your trip

Destination

Note the start point and end point of the trip including addresses of both locations.

Purpose

State the reason for this trip.

Odometer readings

Record the vehicle’s odometer reading at the start and the end of the trip.

Total miles driven

Calculate and log the total miles driven for the trip which can be derived from the odometer readings or directly tracked using a mileage tracker app.

Driver’s details

If multiple people use the same vehicle, include the name of the driver for each trip.

Vehicle ID

Include details of the vehicle used, such as registration, make and model.

Notes

Provide any additional notes relevant to the trip – additional fees such as parking and tolls.
